International Conference Medical and Health Sciences 2018 (ICMHS 2018) is an International conference organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). The conference will be held in order to integrate the advance health disparities research through a change in philosophical position and an increased emphasis on community engagement including people, services, system, change, and technology. We argue that a balanced combination of these research approaches is needed to inform evidence-based practice, social action, and effective policy change to improve health in disparity communities.

But today, high throughput technologies for translational research and the application of genomic and molecular data to facilitate the discovery of new therapies are beginning to offer promise for disparity-reduction efforts. The field of medicine has entered a revolutionary period that offers the unprecedented opportunity to identify the risk of disease, based on precise molecular knowledge, and the chance to preempt disease conditions. As a result of the accelerated science discoveries and technological revolution, the potential for eliminating disparities is proliferating.
All health organizations should be able to continuously improve the care they provide. This is facilitated in health regions of critical mass and breadth. Critical mass and breadth provide a base for regions to initiate and implement strategies to coordinate and integrate care across multiple sectors. This is much more difficult in a country like Indonesia where service governance is fragmented by sector (e.g., hospitals, continuing care and public health).

Based on the above conditions, the conference takes the theme of which is: From bench to applied sciences: moving towards integrated healthcare

The conference is expected to be followed by participants who came from many sectors related to health including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, medical rehabilitation, biomedical, health psychology, epidemiology, environmental and occupational health, clinics managerial/home hospital and health policyholders. The conference provides a forum for discussion, exchange of ideas. Participants get input for improvement of the research, research collaboration, networking, education and advice solutions to problems in the field of primary health care.
